LCP GET PLANNING AUTHORITY SUPPORT FOR DEVELOPING BURNTWOOD TOWN CENTRE - 5th June 2007

Lichfield District Council has resolved to support the granting of planning permission for Phase One of the new Town Centre proposals for Burntwood, Staffordshire by London & Cambridge Properties Ltd (LCP).

Consent is still subject to referral of the application to the Government Office of the West Midlands and the completion of the Section 106 Agreement.

Phase One of the project on the 230,400 sq.ft site will consist of 16 retail units of various sizes totaling 104,228 sq.ft with A1 planning consent built adjacent to an existing Morrisons store of 49,318 sq.ft., with Phase Two consisting of a mixture of associated retail and leisure uses.

Detailed design plans are currently being prepared and the contract will be awarded by the end of the year.  The build programme will be approximately a year with the development open for trading in spring 2009.

LCP have appointed Johnson Fellows and Allen Hodkinson to market the development who are confident of attracting a range of well known high street retailers.

Steve Carlin, LCP director responsible for retail investment said: “We are delighted to have the support of the local council and residents."

"The scheme will attract shoppers from a catchment area of 10 - 30 minutes drive time and will better meet local needs for retail and leisure uses".

LCP has a national portfolio spanning more that 14 million sq ft and manages assets worth in excess of £1 billion.   For further information visit www.buildingabetterburntwood.co.uk
